(Port) Wine of the month January 2017: Vallado Colheita 1888 "ABF"

To celebrate their 300th anniversary, Vallado bottled just 300 regular bottles of this prestigious Colheita. It originates from a neighbouring Quinta to honour Antonio Bernardo Ferreira, who was the first Ferreira to acquire the Quinta in 1818.

Almost pitch black colour with a golden green rim and a very intense core. Deep complex, but balanced bouquet with tons of dry fruit-aromas and tobacco. Very rustic palate without losing the balance and very little acetonic notes. It is like an exciting and long-lasting aromatic rollercoaster ride with sweetness and acidity in perfect balance. Very long lasting aftertaste. This is my first 20 Point-rating for a Tawny Port ever. 20/20
